Effective Date
We have updated this privacy policy effective September 10, 2009. The terms of this privacy policy apply to all users of our web sites. You should immediately cease all use of this web site if you do not agree with these terms for any reason.
Automated data collection
We use cookies to record session information, such as items a customer adds to their shopping cart, customize Web page content based on visitors' browser type or other information that the visitor sends. Our commercial web analysis software may record referral links which bring you to our website and may record where you went upon leaving our website. We do not use Web beacons which are transparent images with third party tracking designed to operate similar to a cookie. For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically tracks the IP address while on our site and may automatically recognize the domain name. Our web server does not automatically attempt collect your e-mail address.
Manual data collection
During your contact with CertTest, we collect and maintain personal information about you for the purpose of responding to your interests and anticipated needs. CertTest collects information from many sources to help us better understand and fulfill your needs. We collect the following types of information from you.
- Name, email address, mailing address, telephone and fax numbers
- Company/Employer name, title and contact information, professional affiliations
- Seminar registration details, training records and survey data which may be shared with professional certification organizations, related affiliates and reference check inquiries.
- Information necessary to facilitate travel or other services including data about your travel plans, seating preferences, hotel reservation, emergency contacts, passport number, nationality, country of residence.
- Notes pertaining to conversations or observations about your interests, desires and needs.
- Payment data including credit/debit account numbers with expiration dates and billing address, signature authorization, and merchant authorization codes. Your credit/debit account number is used for individual transactions with our credit card processing company. We do not retain account numbers "on-file" for future transactions. You will need to furnish this information for each transaction or to process a credit refund.
Upon request we may provide site visitors with access to unique identifier information (e.g., customer number or password) that we maintain about them, transaction information (e.g., dates on which customers made purchases, amounts and types of purchases) that we maintain about them, contact information (e.g., name, address, phone number) that we maintain about them, a description of information that we maintain about them.
Consumers can have their information corrected by updating their online account preferences, by writing to us at the address below, by email or by telephone with a reasonable means of personal authentication.
Who has access to information about you?
We do not sell, lease, rent or allow third parties to use our client information for their own marketing. Access is limited to CertTest and our subcontractors as required in the performance of job duties necessary to complete your transaction or fulfillment of your request.
We comply with both U.S. Privacy and EU Data Privacy laws to the extent those laws apply to the information CertTest maintains. CertTest will disclose data collected in the course of business to cooperate with law enforcement and other government requests. We may disclose any information necessary to protect the interests of CertTest including voluntary cooperation, civil or criminal matters.
How is the information used?
CertTest uses customer information to identify, develop and market products and services we believe might be of value. We aggregate demographic information about our target audience to improve offerings, marketing and industry reporting. With your permission, we may use your name, photographic likeness, title and/or contact information in a reference or marketing testimonial concerning your satisfaction with our products or services.
Information concerning your professional affiliations may be verified to determine eligibility for special offers or discounts.
Technology & Security
We maintain strict physical controls, electronic safeguards and administrative procedures to protect personal information. While we are unable to guarantee complete safety our staff provides reasonable effort to protect your data. Each credit card transaction requires the buyer to fax back the signature authorization form unless the transaction is processed by Paypal or Payflow. CertTest follows Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance requirements. According to PCI regulations, you should NEVER send your account or credit card numbers to anyone via email due to the inherent lack security. You shall retain sole responsibility for the integrity, confidentiality and security of your online account including protection of the user login name, password and related personal data. You must notify us immediately if you believe your online information may have been abused or compromised by anyone else. We continuously monitor our information security activities to maintain compliance with these directives.
Data Retention
We retain records for as long as deemed necessary to service the management objectives of our business. Records identified as obsolete are destroyed by means of magnetic deletion or physical destruction using shredding or burning.
Specials, Surveys, Contests & Email
A valid email address must be provided upon registration with your consent to receive related announcements or notices via email for our drawings, contests, surveys and special offers. You may opt-out to cancel your entry and stop the related email. If you choose to opt-out, your name is removed from eligible entries. See our official rules for details.
How to stop receiving automatic email notices of special offers
If you do not want to receive related e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by selecting opt-out option in your online account preferences, by calling us at our main telephone number, or writing to us at the address below. You may receive periodic postal mailings from us with information on new products and services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such postal mailings, please let us know by updating your online preferences or by writing to us at the address below.

Minors
We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If you are under the age of 13, please do not use our web site. Children should not provide any personal information of any kind.

CertTest reserves the right to modify the privacy policy at any time. In the evolving future, we may find new uses for customer information with unanticipated applications not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If we change or update our privacy policy, we will post the revised policy on this page of our web site. You should check this policy page frequently to keep informed of any changes.
