Recently launched in fall 2002 the CompTIA Security+ certification exam covers the foundations of information security. The exam is targeted at professionals with minimal networking experience and some knowledge of TCP/IP. The test covers a breadth of security knowledge not confined to any specific vendor. Persons with several years of experience should consider going directly after the CISSP or SSCP certification. Security+ is ideal for entry-level or whole staff certification in the Information Security field.

The Security+ Exam tests and demonstrates that you have the aptitude and ability to master these five domain ares:

• General Security Concepts (30%)

• Communications Security (20%)

• Infrastructure Security (20%)

• Basics of Cryptography (15%)

• Operational/Organizational Security (15%)
