2. Document 4,500 to 7,500 hours of experience in the Project Management Body of Knowledge domains. Equal to approximately 2 1/4 to 4 years non-overlap experience.
3. A training certificate of at least 35 contact hours of Project Management training is required prior to registering for the exam. Our PMP class provides you with the transcript you need to get certified.
4. Apply to register for exam. Payment to PMI is normally by credit card. You should plan on joining as a member of the Project Management Institute.
5. Pass your exam.
6. Unofficial test results should be available at the conclusion of the exam.
7. PMI may conduct reference checks as part of the periodic audit process.
8. PMI will process and issue certification. Typically the process takes less than 10 days.
PMP's are required to subscribe to the code of ethics. You will need to participate in annual on-going training which counts towards recertification. Examples include attending seminars, self study, classes, and publishing papers or related articles. You will need to submit a record your activities via the PMI web site (look under post certification).
Is it worth going through the process of documenting experience and getting PMI's PMP certification ? Yes, You are in competition with so many people looking for jobs these days. PMI's PMP would probably win. Just going through the process is real evidence of your ability and commitment.
All PMP's have a continuing education requirement. We encourage you to consider our CBCP, HIPAA, CISSP or NSA classes as the source of your renewal PDU credits. Each is a specialized template for a project manager. Why not expand your horizons and job potential at the same time. Get a new certification and use the class time as you PMI renewal credit. PMI does not mind at all.
