Steps to get your CISSP certification.
Certified I.S. Security Professional program is under the control and jursidiction of the ISC2 organization. Professionalism and industry ethics are their primary concern. Perspective canidates are required to undergo a simple process in order to recieve CISSP certification.
1. Study & Prepare for CISSP multiple choice exam. The exam is a traveling event which often comes to a location within most major cities (or within a few hours travel). The exam is given by a group of test proctors, in a method very similar to the college SAT exam. You have up to six hours to complete a 250 question multiple choice examination using # 2 pencil to mark your answers. The passing score is 700 points out of a possible 1000 points (70%). Our CISSP class is similar in content to the ISC2 CBK Review. We can prepare you to pass the first time. (Register for class)
2. Document 3+ years experience in at least 3 of the information security Common Body of Knowledge domains ANY three domains can work: "Software Dev, Legal, Operations" is just as good as "Physical, Operations, General Security Management". This IS NOT a networking & technicians deal.
3. Apply online to register for exam. Payment to ISC2 is normally by credit card.
4. Pass your exam.
5. Unofficial test results should be sent by email from ISC2 in about 5 days.
6. Complete your application for certification with endorcement form and attach your resume.
7. Endorcement can be from a Corporate officer, any licensed practitioner including CPA & Realtors, or a CISSP. (ISC)2 is wants someone bound by an ethics body to verify you.
8. (ISC)2 will process and issue certification. Typically the process takes less than 10 days.
CISSP's are required to subscribe to the code of ethics. You will need to participate in annual on-going training which counts towards recertification. Examples include attending seminars, self study, classes, and publishing papers or related articles. You will need to submit a record your activities via the ISC2 web site (look under post certification).
