Steps to get your CBCP or ABCP certification.
Certified Business Continuity Professional program is under the control and jursidiction of the Disaster Recovery Institute International. Perspective canidates are required to undergo a knowledge exam and make application to DRII in order to recieve BCP certification. Fellow of Business Continuity is available from the U.K. Business Continuity Institute based upon an accumulation of points under the BCI's scoring system. Your CBCP certification will count towards the majority of points needed to become a Fellow of BCI.
1. Study & Prepare for BCP multiple choice exam. The exam is a traveling event which often comes to a location within most major cities (or within a few hours travel). The exam is given by a group of test proctors, in a method very similar to the college SAT exam. Our BCP exam prep class is similar in content to the DRP-901 fast track course. We can prepare you to pass the first time. (Register for class)
2A. Document 2+ years experience for CBCP or none for ABCP. Both use the same Best Practices Body of Knowledge.
3. Exams are can be taken at your local Prometric Test center or on the last day of DRII seminars as exam-only. Use the DRII printed form for seminars and Exam Registration. Just make sure to Select EXAM ONLY. Then FAX to DRII. Payment to DRII is normally by credit card.
4. Submit your completed certification package form to DRII.
5. Recieve application acceptance letter from DRII in about 14 days.
6. Pass your examination.
7. DRII will process and issue certification. Typically the process takes less than 10 days.
You will need to participate in annual on-going training which counts towards recertification. Examples include attending seminars, self study, classes, and publishing papers or related articles. You will need to submit a record your activities via the DRII web site or BCI web site in U.K. (look under post certification).
CISSP and PMP professionals can often apply their BCP study and certification as credit for their CISSP & PMP annual continuing education.
